Philosophy

Philosophy as a category is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. The word "philosophy" comes from the Greek philosophia, which literally means "love of wisdom".

Sacred Books

By: M. Winternitz

THE period covered by the inception, the publication, and the completion of the Sacred Books of the East exactly coincides with the thirty-four years that I have spent in Oxford. When I matriculated, Professor Max Muller, the editor of the series, was about to begin work on the first volume, which appeared while I was still an undergraduate. I lost no time in making his acquaintance, for it was the influence of one of his works that had stimulated me to begin under Pro...

Habeltt sua lata libelli-not only after they have been published, but sometimes even before they are printed. It was in the spring of 1894 that the late Professor Max Muller first suggested to me that I should compile a General Index of the names and subject-matter for the complete series of the Sacred Books of the East. Such an Index, he thought, would be a great help to all students of the Sacred Books of tile East, and of the greatest value for the study of the history of religions.

Be Happy In The Now!

By: AiRatmanInRavi AiR; AiRatmanInRavi AiR

It is being happy in the NOW. Every time we let the suffering of yesterday take charge of our life, we destroy the joy of today. When our thoughts anxiously jump into what may happen in the future, we lose the tranquility of the present moment. We seem to be like helpless monkeys jumping from one branch to another, from yesterday to tomorrow. And in the bargain, we lose the gift of being happy in the present. Is there a way to escape this monkey business jumping from yes...

On the Psychology of Philosophy: An Introduction to Cognietrics

By: Alon Oscar Deutsch

People have asked about the subject of my book, and how it is possible to calculate the definition of philosophical concepts such as knowledge and deduction from combinations of psychological aptitudes using abstract algebra. For this reason I would like to share with you one of the results calculated in my book. Myers-Briggs types are classified as: Introverted or Extraverted, iNtuitive (imaginative) or Sensing (realistic), Thinking (logical) or Feeling (emotional), an...

The Reason for Jungian Typology Someone once told me, “if there is one thing that is immutable, it is change”. Naturally our responses to such an unpredictable idea differ as they evolve to meet it. We may ask: Should I be concerned with specific (Introverted) or general (Extraverted) change? This is important because the very concept of change implies degrees of change. Should I respond to change (Sensing) or initiate it (iNtuiting)? This is important because we ar...

Epistemologia serviciilor de informaţii

By: Nicolae Sfetcu

By: Nicolae Sfetcu

Smith ("Time Travel", The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy”), William Grey (”Troubles with Time Travel”), Ulrich Meyer (”Explaining causal loops”), Simon Keller și Michael Nelson (”Presentists should believe in time-travel”), Frank Arntzenius și Tim Maudlin ("Time Travel and Modern Physics") și David Lewis (“The Paradoxes of Time Travel”). Lucrar...

How to Make Peace With Your Past : Do You Face or Run: Do You Face...

By: Jayita Bhattacharjee

This book sheds a light on how to deal with the rising voices of the past, be it memories of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, past mistakes, regrets--the things which make us tied to the past. We humans, somehow manage to wear the most beautiful smiles, in front of this whole world. But in doing so, who are we running from. Is it from this world or from us? Rarely do we ask ourselves. As we think the ultimate win, is in being a talented pe...

As yesterday brings the pain, the hurt, the ugly and the bad, we tremble as we remember—how sadly we have been wronged. Our hands folded and our hearts softened, as we rise from the graves of sorrow. And we walk towards the grounds of a meeting place—There stands the wronged and the wrongdoer.Trembling is the heart, overwhelmed with hurt. And we who hold anger, hatred and revenge-- rise to be the strongest who release them in the air.

By: Nicolae Sfetcu

By: George Pan Kouloukis

By: Fritz Dufour

The Realities of Reality - Part II: Making Sense of Why Modern Sci...

By: Fritz Dufour

The difference between Part I and Part II – Volumes 1 & 2 – of this series, is that in Part I the author showed how what we call reality starts with the inner self whereas Part II describes what, in fact, impacts and modifies the environment or reality and what are the factors behind that dynamics. What impacts and modifies the environment is science. This Volume 2 starts by showing how technology plays an important role in scientific progress. Although the relationship ...

If science is defined as anything that can change or potentially change the environment, it goes without saying that science is also anything that can change or potentially change man himself because man is at the center of science. The nature of science reflects the nature of man. Although science is not stationary and that it changes as our environment changes, because scientific method and scientific paradigms change at different eras, scientific progress is multiface...

The Singularities as Ontological Limits of the General Relativity

By: Nicolae Sfetcu

The singularities from the general relativity resulting by solving Einstein's equations were and still are the subject of many scientific debates: Are there singularities in spacetime, or not? Big Bang was an initial singularity? If singularities exist, what is their ontology? Is the general theory of relativity a theory that has shown its limits in this case? In this essay I argue that there are singularities, and the general theory of relativity, as any other scientif...

In classical vision, space and time are containers; matter is the content. The distinctive property of matter is that it carries energy and impulse, preserved over time, resulting in energy and impulse being fundamental ontologically. (Norton 2012) GR generated various early philosophical interpretations. His adherents have highlighted the "relativization of inertia" and the concept of simultaneity, Kantians and Neo-Kantians have underlined the approach of certain syn...
